The Public Relations Association of Central Illinois (PRA) will have its next meeting on October 15, 2008 at Barrack’s Cater Inn in Peoria, IL from 11:45 a.m-1 p.m. Cost is $17 for members or $22 for non-members.
The topic “Social Marketing and Blogging” will feature speaker Michael Thurwanger, Ph.D who is currently the Director of the Reagan Leadership Program at Eureka College. Dr. Thurwanger will offer guidelines to help people successfully navigate the increasingly important and rapidly changing environment of social marketing as a way to forge new interactive relationships.

A media panel comprised of local media professionals from newspaper, radio and television will be discussing what it takes to get an event publicized as well as the latest media changes and trends in the Central Illinois area and within their industry. Representatives from the Journal Star, WEEK-TV & WMBD are scheduled to attend.

The Public Relations Association of Central Illinois awarded the Pat Landen Communications award and Gold Star Media Award at their April meeting at South Side Mission. Bob Meismer and Trisha Noack accept the Pat Landen Communications award for the Peoria Public Library’s Close the Gaps: Libraries for All Campaign. Accepting the Gold Star Media Award was Meg Johnson and Patti Smith for WMBD/WYZZ’s Operation Santa.
