Roberta English Simpson
Roberta joined Neighborhood House in September 2013 as Community Outreach Director, where she successfully raised funds, wrote multiple grants, and expanded community outreach services to include a summer lunch program and a weekend food program for children. In addition, Roberta established Neighborhood House as the LISC Community Builder for the South Side and a site for the federal AmeriCorps program. After Roberta’s success in Community Outreach, she moved into a newly created position, Director of Fund Development, which allows her to focus on fundraising events and developing relationships with individual and corporate donors.
Outside of work, Roberta volunteers her time as an ambassador for the Peoria Chamber of Commerce and she serves on the board of the Central Illinois Youth Symphony. Roberta joined the Public Relations Association in 2014. She’s also an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Roberta credits most of her successes to the skills developed and lessons learned during her 10-year stint as a television news producer, reporter, and anchor.
Roberta holds a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
